The Foundation for Blended and Online Learning (FBOL) Transitions to Future of School
CASTLE ROCK, CO — Through scholarships, grants, original research, and strategic partnerships with a diverse cross-section of leaders, the Foundation for Blended and Online Learning (FBOL) has worked to close the gap between the pace of technology in daily life and the pace of change in education since 2016; it will now further expand upon this mission as Future of School (FoS). The organization’s transition to Future of School reflects important shifts in America’s K-12 teaching and learning landscape. Focusing solely on issues that unify and advance solutions to unlock the full potential of students, teachers and society, FoS aims to elevate the national discourse on education.
Grounded in the belief that all kids should have a meaningful, rigorous and relevant K-12 learning experience, FoS is fully dedicated to access to quality primary and secondary education. As an education intermediary, the organization’s grantmaking programs are designed to reward students, empower educators and amplify research data with the end goal of demonstrating the impact that technology has on transforming the one-size-fits-all approach to K-12 education in order to better prepare students for the future.
FoS supports the flexibility needed by many K-12 students, and will highlight the value of blended and online programs in enabling them to cultivate transferable skills for the future of work. Empowering educators to embrace technology-based delivery models and new instructional methods is a key aspect in achieving these goals.
“Future of School will award grants to students and educators for being digital entrepreneurs and pioneers of personalized educational pathways,” said Amy Valentine, its Chief Executive Officer. “FoS has been an almost yearlong initiative focused on amplifying personal stories and exploring a variety of teaching and learning challenges. We’ve now become a people-driven nonprofit organization designed to support the evolution of today's schools to meet the needs of tomorrow's students and a future of jobs that have yet to be defined.
“The Future of School is made possible by donors across the country who are enabling the transformation from an outdated, one-size-fits-all K-12 system to new models, enabled by technology, with the power to transform our students’ lives,” said Linda Lopez, FoS board member and former state senator of Arizona. “The Future of School is the foundation for both their success and that of our society in the future of work.”
