Blended classes have the ability to give a student exactly what they need. Whether they need flexibility in their schedule or a little extra help with tutoring. For me, online classes gave me the support that I needed. In a brick and mortar school, I was academically struggling despite my grades. I was scared to ask for help because I was scared of being ridiculed by my peers. It has become much easier to communicate with my teachers now. I email them with my questions and because they work with online students frequently, they still understand me even when my wording is a little off.
I chose to move onto online classes because of the of the one-on-one learning aspect and flexibility in my schedule. I like to cook and do things around the house, so being able to learn and pursue my hobbies was a new freedom that I enjoyed very much. It's also helped me discipline myself. Staying at home and being comfy can sometimes trick me into relaxing when I need to work, so becoming self-disciplined was one of the most important part of my transition. In a traditional classroom, I was interested in everything but the lesson because more than often, it was unclear to me. I couldn't ask the teacher to go back a few slides during a powerpoint without holding back the class, so I
never did.
Online learning lets you learn at your own pace. You still get the classroom experience, but when it's time to work, you work on your own. My teachers always have their resources online and I can always go back when I need to. They don't mind answering an emailed question with a thorough response and our Discussion Based Assessments get us closer to our teachers while they make sure that were up to speed with our learning. Overall, I definitely recommend online classes and if someone just needs a little extra of something, for instance tutoring or flexibility, blended learning is the way to go.
