Personally, online learning courses have helped bridge learning gaps for me because of taking health and medical courses that were available. We had to take health online because they do not have a health class in our school. Therefore without the use of online classes, we would not have learned anything about our personal health. There are many online courses through IDLA that will help expand your knowledge towards things that schools may not teach.
When I was offered a choice of courses in online learning environments, I tend to choose courses that have to do with science such as zoology, psychology, medical terminology, health, etc. I enjoy science and our school does not offer any of those courses to students. Some of these science based classes can also go toward my college courses such as my psychology class. Most of my online classes have been very easy because I don't have to deal with as many distractions as I do in class.
The different unit tests are great too because it shows how much I have learned and what I need to work on at the end of every lesson. Our school doesn't do that, so I typically forget most of the things I have learned. One thing that I do not enjoy about taking online courses is that if you have a question you have to wait a while unless the teacher is really fast about replying. Other than that small thing, I would love to take more online courses.
