Shannon Hewlett
During my junior and senior years of high school, I participated in five online college classes and a blended live-and-online college class. All the while, I maintained the goal of attending college and becoming a screenwriter. Each class was chosen either in pursuit of my dream or for graduation requirements. Junior year, I took Critical Reasoning and Film, Television, and Theatre. The class helped my understanding of perspective and justifiable rationale which I can project into my characters. Film, Television and Theatre gave me a strong foundation to begin work in my field. Senior year, I took Google Apps for Business, American Government, Astronomy, and Intro to Linguistics. (My high school, Aspire Benjamin Holt College Preparatory Academy, required every senior to enroll in Google Apps for Business and American Government.)
I have been passionate, even excited, to learn more in every online and blended class. I believe my preparation and groundwork for screenwriting helped me greatly in my acceptance to the Loyola Marymount University Film School, and I could not be more elated to start my studies.
