“The culture shift from traditional textbook teaching to the blended learning model has significantly increased student achievement. Also, our teachers are engaged in weekly blended learning training. They say it is the best part of their week.

– Alanna Stevenson

Three years ago I was assigned as principal of a traditional textbook driven Catholic School. As a consultant with the University of Notre Dame, I have worked with schools around the country that utilize blended learning, and have seen positive outcomes. My first year here, I realized we needed Blended Learning. Peter Servido wrote a grant, and your organization funded our venture into blended learning. The teacher survey on blended learning that I conducted afterwards showed amazing results. The culture shift from traditional textbook teaching to the blended learning model has significantly increased student achievement. Also, our teachers are engaged in weekly blended learning training. They say it is the best part of their week. Teachers no longer teach in isolation, they now share and talk about what blended learning programs work best, etc... We have found that our community has a large homeschool population and we want to share the blended learning approach with them by providing a blended learning resource center within our school.

The school is located in a poor part of the city of Lewiston, the building is old built in 1928. However, there is a welcoming atmosphere within the school. We have a high degree of positive parent involvement. Teachers are excited about teaching and students are equally excited about learning.
